The Classes
Open to artists ages 16+, at any experience level.
Each class is a 2-hour guided introduction to drawing from life, working from a live, clothed model in a relaxed studio setting.
You’ll be introduced to a core skill through simple exercises and drawing practice, with clear instruction throughout.
Classes can be taken individually based on your interest, or experienced as a series that builds from one session to the next.

The STUDio Experience
Our downtown studio space is equipped with professional "drawing horse" seating and drawing boards for all students. Classes (limited to 8 students) provide a small, focused, and supportive group environment where students draw from a live clothed model at every class.
Artists should bring the following supplies:

Vine or compressed charcoal sticks

Compressed charcoal pencil or soft drawing pencil (4B or softer)

Newsprint pad 18"x 24"

Meet your instructor
I’m Denise, a trained artist with a degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and over 20 years of experience as a creative professional. I recently relocated to Iowa from Colorado, where I first launched and operated The Drawing Room out of my home garage studio in 2021.
My approach is grounded in observation, process, and building confidence over time. I believe in drawing without fear.
I’m excited to relaunch The Drawing Room in Sioux City and share this experience with my new local community.
